Full Time Co-ordinator, Automation & Instrumentation 

Location: Torlake

Position Overview: 

Reporting to the Maintence Supervisor, the Coordinator, Automation & Instrumentation is responsible for coordinating & performing modifications to the automation & instrumentation processes to ensure that it runs effectively and in accordance with General Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safty Standards, SOP's & Statistical Process Control (SPC) requirements. 

Key Duties, Responsibilities & Deliverables:

·         Coordinate & perform modification, repair, installation, maintence, improvement, testing & troubleshooting of varioues types of industrial electrical equipment & associated electrical & electronical controls.

·         Diagnose automation problems & provide quick, innovative solutions for electrical component breakdowns by applying skills & experience in the area.

·         Inspect & test operation of instruments & systems to diagnose faults using pneumatic, electrical & electronic testing devices & precision measuring instruments.

·         Calibrate components & instruments according to manufacturers' specifications.

·         Coordinate & perform scheduled instrumentation & system related preventive maintenance work & complete test & maintence reports.

·         Install new control & measurement instruments on existing & new plant equipment and processes.

·         Assist in preparing automation & instrumentation related designs, drawings, specifications.

·         Provide support for & participate in plant audits, machines/ equipment testing and electrical installation inspectations.

·         Provide support for & participate in machinery installation, repair and maintenance.

·         Provide support for & participate in environmental testing & monitoring

·         Consult with, advise, coach, and train process operators.

·         Respond to  & recommend solutions for routine & unique equipment automation and instrumentation problems in a timely & customer oriented manner.

·         Integrating all plant, quality, safety and security policies & guidelines into all day to day activities on the job.

·         All other work as assigned.

Specific Skills & Abilities:

·         Consult manufacturer's manuals, circuit diagrams, & blueprints to determine tests & maintenance procedures for instruments used for measuring & controlling flow, level, pressure, temperature, chemical composition & other variables in manufacturing and processing.

·         Repair & adjust system components, such as sensor, transmitters & programmable logic controllers, or remove & replace defective parts.

·         Demonstrate strong written skills for document completion & use.

·         Demonstrate strong oral communication to give & understand work instructions.

·         Demonstrate problem solving, critical thinking, continuous learning & the ability to find information as required.

·         Train, coach & instruct training team members in automation & instrumentation related procedures & requirements.

·         Work productively in noisy manufacturing plant environment. 

Additional Requirements:

·         Minimum 3-5 years work experience in related/relevant function & industry.

·         Certification/ qualification in a related field or have equivalent working experience (Electronics Technician/ Technologist Certificate, Electricial Qualifications or equivalent"

·         Demonstrated applied knowledge of PLC programming including Allan Bradley, ControlLogix/RS Logix, Omron, Siemens.
